Timetable enhancements

Every May and December our timetable upgrades seek to improve journey times and connections between services, making it easier and quicker for you to get to where you need to be.

Since 2016, these timetables changes have resulted in a total of 2,000 extra services running across our network every week.

Endless improvements

Our bi-annual timetable enhancements are flanked by major initiatives designed to build on the reliability and stability of our network and create new journey opportunities. The last 12 months have seen:

  • More direct connection journeys between the larger towns and cities of the North, including the first direct service between Leeds and Chester for many years
  • An increase in peak-time capacity, gracing commuters with more frequent trains and upgraded carriages
  • Faster journey times across the Pennines, serving key destinations such as Manchester, Hull, Liverpool, Warrington, Chester, Blackpool and York
  • The first weekday rail service calling at Gainsborough Central for almost 30 years
